Terms of Purchase, Disclaimers & IP Notices
In short
Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Garmin, Yamaha, or Arctic Cat/Textron. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
SledMods is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle or device manufacturer. You are modifying system software on a device you own, at your own risk, and all sales are final.
Disclaimers
Your device's data is erased and its security settings change
Installing this erases your device's data and leaves the device less secure than it was: storage encryption turned off, part of the security policy left permissive, and debug access enabled. These are part of how the update works, not optional extras or things that only go wrong on a bad install.
Read section 4 of the Terms of Purchase below before you buy.
You are modifying system software
This Service installs system-level software and changes your device's configuration. That is what it is for. It is not a supported or authorised manufacturer update.
Your manufacturer warranty may be affected
Modifying system software can void or affect any warranty or service plan covering your vehicle or device. Check the terms of your warranty, lease, or finance agreement before proceeding.
Use at your own risk
Beyond the reformat described in section 4, there is a risk of losing further data, or of a device that no longer starts. The Product is provided as is, with no warranty. You proceed at your own risk. See the Terms of Purchase below.
Final sale — no refunds
You are buying a device-specific configuration that is generated and delivered on payment. All sales are final and no refunds are offered. Confirm your device is supported before you buy.
Terms of Purchase
These Terms of Purchase (the “Terms”) govern your purchase and use of any software, configuration, or update (collectively, the “Product”) supplied by SledMods (“we”, “us”, “our”) through www.sledmods.com (the “Service”).
1. Acceptance
By ticking the agreement checkbox and completing checkout you accept these Terms in full. If you do not accept them, do not complete the purchase.
You confirm that you are of the age of majority in your jurisdiction and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
These Terms were last updated on 2026-09-12 (version 1.0). The version you accepted is recorded against your payment at the time of purchase.
2. No affiliation with the manufacturers
SledMods is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, associated with, authorised by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Garmin Ltd., Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Arctic Cat Inc., Textron Inc., or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates.
All product names, logos, brands, and other trademarks or images referenced in the Service or the Product are the property of their respective trademark holders. They are used for identification and descriptive purposes only. Use of these names does not imply any endorsement, partnership, or sponsorship, and does not grant you any licence or right to use them.
The Product is not manufactured, certified, tested, or approved by any vehicle, device, or operating-system manufacturer. Any manufacturer warranty covering your vehicle or device may be affected — see section 7.
3. What you are purchasing
You are purchasing a licence to a device-specific software configuration and update package generated for the single device identified by the serial number and storage volume identifier you connected at checkout. You are not purchasing the device, any third-party software, or any physical goods.
The configuration, among other things, enables the device to interoperate with third-party applications that depend on services the device does not ship, and provides access to vehicle data on the device's CAN network for diagnostic purposes. Concretely, it:
- installs a modified system image that remains rooted and re-themeable;
- installs open-source components that supply the background services third-party applications expect, so an application that previously installed but would not run can now work;
- unlocks system interfaces the device already contains but does not expose by default — including interfaces for reading data the vehicle publishes on its CAN network, which the device's own display relies on;
- provides the optional cluster themes described in section 11.
Section 4 sets out what these changes mean for the device's security settings, and you should read it before purchasing.
The Product is delivered electronically by download. Delivery is complete when the generated configuration is served to your browser. It is licensed, not sold.
The configuration is cryptographically bound to your device. It will not function on any other device, and it has no independent value if separated from that device.
4. What this changes on your device — read before you buy
Installing the Product modifies your device's system software and its security settings. The following are consequences of how the update works — not side effects we could configure away, and not things that only go wrong if something fails.
- Your device's data will be erased. Installation reformats the data partition. This happens on every successful install, to every device. Back up anything you want to keep before you begin.
- Storage encryption will be turned off. Your device currently encrypts the data stored on it. After the update it will not, and what is on it will be readable by anyone with physical access to the storage. The new system cannot otherwise start without the previous system's encryption keys.
- Part of the device's security policy will be left permissive. A system component that normally enforces access rules will be set to allow rather than block, because that is the only way the installer can do its work with the privileges it needs. It stays that way afterwards.
- Debug access will be left enabled. The device will accept ADB connections without the normal on-screen authorisation prompt. That is what allows the device to provision itself, and it remains on afterwards.
Together, these mean the device will be less secure after the update than it was before, and it will no longer be protected by the manufacturer's normal security model. If you keep personal, financial, or otherwise sensitive information on the device, or if the device is shared, rented, or fleet-managed, weigh that before purchasing.
We do not warrant that the device will remain secure, that these settings can be reverted, or that a later update will restore them. See section 7 (warranty and compatibility) and section 9 (limitation of liability).
5. Eligibility and lawful use
You represent and warrant that:
- you are the legal owner of the device being modified, or have the express permission of the owner to modify it;
- modifying the device does not breach any lease, financing, rental, fleet, insurance, or warranty agreement you are party to;
- you will use the Product only in a manner that is lawful in the jurisdiction where the device is operated, and only where it is legal to do so;
- you will not use the Product to circumvent any technological protection measure for the purpose of infringing copyright, to gain unauthorised access to any network or service, to disable or alter emissions, safety-recall, or immobiliser systems, or for any other unlawful purpose;
- you will comply with all applicable road, trail, and off-road vehicle laws, including any law restricting the use of displays, gauges, or distracting interfaces while operating a vehicle.
You are solely responsible for determining whether your intended use is lawful in your jurisdiction. We do not provide legal advice and make no representation that the Product is lawful or suitable for use in any particular place.
6. Assumption of risk
The Product modifies system-level software on your device. You accept that this carries inherent risk, including but not limited to: loss of data beyond the reformat described in section 4; partial or total loss of function of the device (including a device that will not start, not boot, or “brick”); the need for specialist recovery or reflashing; loss of access to manufacturer updates, connected services, telematics, or navigation features; incompatibility with future firmware; and invalidation of any manufacturer or dealer warranty.
You accept these risks knowingly and voluntarily, and you proceed at your own risk.
Do not operate a vehicle while interacting with the Service. Perform the installation with the vehicle stationary and safely parked, with the ignition in the position specified by our instructions and a stable power supply. Do not begin an installation you cannot safely complete.
7. Warranty and compatibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Product is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation any implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, or quiet enjoyment.
We do not warrant that the Product will meet your requirements, that it will operate without interruption or error, that it will be compatible with any particular firmware, hardware revision, region, or third-party software, or that any defect will be corrected.
We support only the firmware versions stated in the Service at the time of purchase. Installing the Product may void or otherwise affect any warranty provided by the vehicle, device, or operating-system manufacturer. You acknowledge that we are not responsible for any such consequence.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or condition that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation. Where such legislation applies, the disclaimers above apply only to the fullest extent permitted.
8. Final sale — no refunds
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns, cancellations, or exchanges, and we do not provide refunds for change of mind, for incompatibility discovered after purchase, for a device that becomes unusable, or for any other reason.
You are paying for the generation and delivery of a device-specific configuration. Because that configuration is generated for your device and delivered immediately upon payment, it cannot be returned or restocked. By purchasing, you acknowledge that the Product is delivered to you on this basis.
Before purchasing, please confirm that your device is supported by reading the compatibility information shown in the Service and by contacting us with any questions at [email protected]. If you believe you have been charged in error, or charged twice, contact us at that address and we will investigate.
Nothing in this section affects any statutory right that cannot lawfully be waived in your jurisdiction.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or use, arising out of or relating to the Product or these Terms, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Product or these Terms will not exceed the amount you actually paid us for the Product giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for damage caused by: your failure to follow our instructions; your device's pre-existing condition, including prior modification, root state, or failing hardware; loss of power or interruption of your internet connection during installation; third-party software or services; or any event outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is not permitted.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SledMods and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, actions, proceedings, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
- your breach of these Terms, including any representation or warranty made in section 5;
- your use or misuse of the Product, including any use that is unlawful in your jurisdiction;
- any claim by a third party, including a vehicle or device owner, manufacturer, lessor, or insurer, relating to a device you modified;
- your infringement of any intellectual property or other right of a third party.
11. Trademarks and intellectual property
The following are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. They are used in the Service for identification and descriptive purposes only, and their use does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship by their owners:
- Garmin® is a registered trademark of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries.
- Yamaha® is a registered trademark of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.
- Arctic Cat® is a registered trademark of Arctic Cat Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc.
- Textron® is a registered trademark of Textron Inc.
Attribution is limited to the marks above because those are the only ones the Product refers to. The device's own operating system and any third-party components it came with are the device manufacturer's and their licensors' responsibility, and your use of them is governed by the terms you accepted when you acquired the device.
This list is not exhaustive, and the omission of any mark does not waive any rights in it. All other trademarks, service marks, trade names, trade dress, and product names remain the property of their respective owners. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
Third-party software. The Product may install, modify, or interoperate with third-party and open-source components, which remain governed by their own licences. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right in that software beyond the rights granted by its own licence. We make no warranty in respect of third-party software. The components we ship, their licences, the modifications we have made to any of them, and full copies of the licence texts are listed at sledmods.com/licenses, which also contains our written offer of source code for the components whose licences require it.
Theme bases. The optional theme bases are not artwork we created. They are derived from the alternative instrument-cluster overlays that already ship on the device itself — packages installed by the device manufacturer and selectable on production devices. What the Service does is recolour those overlays and re-sign them so the device will load the alternative, which is otherwise locked. The logos, gauge artwork, and trade dress in them remain the property of their respective owners, and we claim no rights in them.
Our material. The Service, the Product, and the underlying configuration and code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly offer the Product or any device-specific configuration generated for you. You may not reverse-engineer or attempt to extract any device-specific configuration generated for another device.
Copyright complaints. If you believe material available through the Service infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with the identification of the work, the material complained of, and your contact details, and we will respond promptly.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time by posting the revised version in the Service and updating the version number and effective date above. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention before you make a further purchase.
Changes apply prospectively only. The Terms in force at the time of a purchase govern that purchase, and the version you accepted is recorded with it. Your continued use of the Service after a change does not alter the terms governing a purchase you have already made.
13. General
Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Product are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rule giving you the right to bring proceedings where you reside.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if it cannot be, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Disclaimers and Trademark & IP Notices published in the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Product and supersede any prior understanding.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it or of any other provision.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
